{"id":777043507,"date":"2026-06-12T07:33:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T10:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=777043507"},"modified":"2026-06-12T09:40:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T12:40:17","slug":"sands-china-earns-top-sustainability-rankings-in-sp-global-yearbook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-earns-top-sustainability-rankings-in-sp-global-yearbook","title":{"rendered":"Sands China and Melco named in S&amp;P Sustainability Yearbook"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The operators have been recognised for their sustainability initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- <strong>Sands China<\/strong> and <strong>Melco<\/strong> have been recognised in the 2026 edition of the <strong>S&amp;P Global Sustainability Yearbook<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sands came in the top 1 per cent of companies assessed in both the global and China rankings and was named an \u201cIndustry Mover\u201d in the China edition for the second consecutive year after seeing a significant improvement in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be listed , companies must score within the top 15 per cent of their industry and must achieve a S&amp;P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment score within 30 per cent of their industry\u2019s top-performing company. This year, over 9,200 companies assessed in the 2025 CSA were considered for the 2026 Sustainability Yearbook. Some 800 across 59 industries were selected for Yearbook inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Melco ranked in the 96<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;percentile within its industry group, rising from 92<sup>nd<\/sup> the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China, said the recognition highlighted the company\u2019s long-term commitment to sustainable operations. \u201cSustainability is the cornerstone of corporate resilience and long-term development,\u201d Chum said. \u201cThese recognitions fully affirm our continued investment and achievements in innovation and long-term planning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said it delivered 1.8 million hours of workforce training in 2025 and reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 61 per cent compared with 2018 levels, surpassing its environmental targets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawrence Ho, Chairman &amp; CEO of Melco, said: \u201cWe are motivated by our longstanding commitment to achieve a better, sustainable future for all.
