Macau.- The only licensed sports betting operator in Macau, Macau Slot<\/strong>, has been granted a one-year extension on its instant lottery concession. According to an announcement published in the official gazette, the contract will now run until June 5, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renewal provides the possibility of further extensions should the parties reach a mutual understanding. The terms of the concession maintain conditions aimed at promoting local employment and workforce development. Macau Slot is required to prioritise the hiring of local employees, support on-the-job training initiatives and to continue cooperating with authorities on the recruitment and retention of local talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These employment provisions were incorporated into the concession renewal in 2025<\/a>, in which Macau Slot pledged to gradually reduce its number of non-resident workers<\/a> and increase opportunities for local staff. The targets included a 35 per cent reduction in non-local, non-skilled employees by the first quarter of 2026.
