Singapore.- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)<\/strong> has said that the Singapore Police Force will intensify action against illegal gambling during the FIFA World Cup. Authorities will work with internet providers to block access to sites, and with financial institutions to restrict payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry reiterated that Singapore Pools <\/strong>remains the only licensed operator permitted to offer lottery, sports betting and remote gambling in the country. People involved in illegal gambling face fines of up to $500,000 and up to seven years\u2019 jail, rising to $700,000 and 10 years for repeat offenders. Users risk fines of up to $10,000 and up to six months\u2019 jail, or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Crime Prevention Council<\/strong> will roll out an awareness campaign on illegal betting, focusing on legal consequences and public reporting channels through online messaging, community outreach and physical advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the National Council on Problem Gambling<\/strong> will launch a campaign under the slogan \u201cEvery bet costs something,\u201d aimed at highlighting the risks of gambling addiction. The campaign will feature video content showing the personal and financial consequences of problem gambling and will be distributed across television broadcasts, digital platforms and public spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n
