Authorities will increase oversight of websites, social media platforms and online services during the tournament, citing concerns over a rise in illegal betting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Malaysia.- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has said it will strengthen its monitoring efforts during the 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/strong> with closer oversight of websites, social media platforms and online services between June 11 and July 19. The regulator is working alongside the Royal Malaysia Police<\/strong>, which leads enforcement of the country\u2019s gambling laws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will continue existing measures including restricting access to identified illegal gambling websites, removing unlawful content from digital platforms and monitoring public complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil <\/strong>said, \u201cMCMC will take action, and any member of the public who comes across any links or content related to online gambling is encouraged to submit their reports for further action.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MCMC added that it continues to work with digital platforms and service providers to improve responses to regulatory requests and strengthen moderation of illegal gambling-related content.<\/p>\n\n\n
