The next expansion phase of Galaxy Entertainment\u2019s Cotai flagship resort will focus on high-value customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group<\/strong>‘s Phase IV expansion at Galaxy Macau<\/a> is expected to open in 2028, with the project intended to attract premium travellers from key Asian markets. That’s according to Hong Kong media outlet Ming Pao, which cited a note from HSBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 4 of the Cotai development will include a 5,000-seat theatre, around 1,350 hotel rooms and suites, a water resort deck and other non-gaming amenities alongside casino space. The project aligns with Macau\u2019s post-2023 concession framework, which places greater emphasis on non-gaming investment. However, Galaxy is keen to receive a higher table allocation under Macau\u2019s fixed-cap system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current rules, Macau\u2019s six concessionaires share a cap of 6,000 gaming tables. Galaxy is authorised to operate 1,000 plus 1,700 gaming machines under its concession, which began on January 1, 2023. Any adjustment would require regulatory approval, otherwise it may redeploy existing tables towards higher-yield areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, Phase IV of the Cotai complex, due to be completed in 2027 and expected to open the following year, will focus on non-gaming offerings<\/strong> targeting consumers from Japan, South Korea, as well as from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report said Galaxy aims to compete through quality and service amid intensifying competition in Macau\u2019s gaming market. HSBC suggested that the group\u2019s luxury retail business, which includes high-end fashion, watches and jewellery, had benefited from increased demand for short-haul travel amid \u201cgeopolitical tensions\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
