Police have raided a casino in Sihanoukville allegedly linked to online fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Cambodia.- Local media reports that 66 suspects have been detained in a raid on a casino in Sihanoukville that was allegedly being used for cybercrime. The raid on Ying Huang Casino, also known as Caesar Palace Casino, was carried out by provincial military police together with officials from Cambodia\u2019s Commercial Gambling Management Commission and the national anti-online scam task force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports state that officers arrested 64 Chinese nationals and two Cambodians and seized 62 computers, 428 mobile phones, a firearm with ammunition, 25 passports and several identification documents. Computers, monitors and communication equipment were reportedly found hidden inside unfinished rooms of the casino building in plastic bags, duffel bags and cardboard boxes. Three Chinese nationals identified as alleged ringleaders were transferred to the provincial court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The raid comes as Cambodia faces pressure to dismantle online scam networks. Authorities raided more than 250 online scam centres between July 2025 and mid-April 2026, including 91 casinos allegedly connected to fraudulent operations<\/a>. During the same period, more than 13,000 foreign nationals suspected of involvement in online scams were deported from the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, Cambodia introduced a new law aimed at combatting online fraud<\/a>, with penalties ranging up to life imprisonment for leaders of scam syndicates. Cambodia\u2019s former Prime Minister and current Senate president, Hun Sen, recently called for stronger action against officials accused of protecting scam syndicates. He said authorities should prosecute implicated civil servants, confiscate their assets and remove officials who fail to enforce government directives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
