However, although the number of participants in meetings and conferences rose by 30 per cent, the overall number of MICE participants and attendees decreased by 8.7 per cent year-on-year to 181,000 as the number of exhibitions saw a small drop.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were <strong>399 meetings and conferences<\/strong> in the first quarter, unchanged from the same quarter last year. The number of participants (49,000) saw a 33.3 per cent rise. Corporate Meetings increased by 11.6 per cent, with the number of participants rising by 75.1 per cent to 29,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the <strong>number of exhibitions <\/strong>was down by 1 to 11, with 128,000 attendees (-20 per cent). The exhibitions attracted 819 exhibitors and 11,173 professional visitors. International exhibitors and professional visitors accounted for 9 per cent and 3 per cent of the respective totals, up by 2.5 and 1 percentage points year-on-year.
