Prime Minister Kim Min-seok has urged the National Gambling Control Commission to build a \u201ccomprehensive safety net\u201d for young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

South Korea.- Prime Minister Kim Min-seok has called on South Korea’s National Gambling Control Commission to strengthen measures aimed at preventing youth gambling addiction and gambling-related harm. During a swearing-in ceremony for new members, he described the regulator as a \u201cguardian\u201d tasked with preventing society from \u201cfalling into the quagmire of gambling\u201d while supporting the healthy development of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No specific policies were announced, but the PM stated: \u201cThe problem of youth gambling has become serious of late. Please devote all your efforts to prevention and to establishing a comprehensive safety net. We must ensure the stable growth of our youth, who are the future of our society.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime minister\u2019s remarks reflect growing concern in South Korea over the rise of gambling among younger age groups, particularly through online platforms. Kim said the commission should also help create a healthy gambling environment that can support tourism, leisure activities, job creation and regional economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
