India.- Police in Cuttack, Odisha,<\/strong> have detained 13 men and confiscated more than Rs18 lakh (US$19,123) following a late-night raid at a hotel in the Bajrakabati area<\/strong>. The operation was carried out by officers from Mangalabag<\/strong> Police Station after they received intelligence suggesting that gambling was being conducted in one of the rooms at Bajrang<\/strong> Badi Siddha Mahavir Galaxy Hotel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the suspects were allegedly caught playing card games involving cash wagers. Officers seized four bundles of playing cards, 60 plastic betting tokens, 14 mobile phones, 10 vehicle keys, two cars and six motorcycles. Officers said the volume of items recovered suggests the activity may have been organised rather than casual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those arrested are reported to be from different districts across Odisha, including Puri, Bhadrak and Khurda<\/strong>. Police are conducting background checks. Meanwhile, a criminal case has been registered under the local police jurisdiction. Authorities added that investigations are continuing to determine whether the group had links to wider illegal gambling networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
