GRNSW said there have been numerous cases of online harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has issued a statement condemning online harassment of industry participants after being notified of \u201cnumerous attacks and bullying on social media\u201d from opponents of the sport. It said it would not tolerate such behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GRNSW acknowledged that lawful debate and criticism were to be expected but stressed that personal attacks against participants should not be permitted, particularly when comments included false, malicious or misleading claims about an individual\u2019s character, conduct or integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator highlighted concerns about repeated harassment, intimidation and vilification intended to cause distress, reputational harm or fear requires. It encouraged affected individuals to seek support, particularly when harassment impacts mental health or well-being, by contacting Participant Welfare Officer George Zaiter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisation noted that participants may also consider legal remedies in cases where online conduct escalates to defamatory or unlawful behaviour. While GRNSW said it cannot provide individual legal advice, it stated that it recognises the seriousness of reputational harm caused by coordinated or malicious online attacks and may offer assistance where appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
