The Gambling Community Benefit Fund channels gaming-derived revenue into local infrastructure, equipment and community programmes across the Australian state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- Nearly 800 community organisations across Queensland will receive funding through the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF)<\/strong>. Approximately AU$19.5m (US$12.9m) is to be distributed to grassroots projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grants, capped at AU$35,000 (US$23,100) per recipient, are funded through taxes levied on gambling, including electronic gaming machines operating in hotels and clubs. The funding is intended to support community upgrades, equipment purchases, training initiatives and local events across metropolitan, regional and remote areas of Queensland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General<\/strong>, Round 125 attracted more than 1,500 applications. Recipients include Victoria Point Girl Guides, which received funding for facility upgrades, Nambour Junior Rugby League for equipment and infrastructure improvements following flood damage, and Coochiemudlo Island Surf Life Saving Club for new storage and training facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is Queensland\u2019s largest one-off community grants programme, distributing approximately AU$60m (US$39.7m) annually to not-for-profit organisations. Since its launch in 1994, the Gambling Community Benefit Fund has distributed more than AU$1.3bn (US$861m)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington <\/strong>said the programme continues to play a critical role in strengthening community organisations, particularly in regional and rural areas. <\/p>\n\n\n
