Australia.- Ainsworth Game Technology (AGT) <\/strong>has appointed Novomatic chair Birgit Wimmer <\/strong>as a non-executive director, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals. The appointment follows Novomatic\u2019s failed attempt to take over AGT, after its unconditional off-market bid expired in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In January<\/a>, Wimmer became the first woman to chair Novomatic\u2019s supervisory board<\/strong>. She was previously chair of the board of directors at NOVO SWISS AG, Novomatic\u2019s Swiss holding company, and managing director of Austria-based Novo Invest GmbH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AGT said Wimmer will bring additional expertise to the board, particularly in corporate governance, finance and international gaming operations. AGT Chairman Danny Gladstone<\/strong> said: \u201cGiven her extensive knowledge of international gaming gained through her corporate experience at Novomatic AG, we believe she will complement the Board\u2019s current skills and provide added value to Board deliberations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to her ties with Novomatic, Wimmer will be treated as a non-independent director with governance protocols in place to manage any potential conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n
