Macau.- Macau Legend Development<\/strong> has forecast a more than twofold increase in its annual loss for full-year 2025<\/strong>. In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange<\/strong> on Tuesday, March 24,<\/strong> the group said it expects a loss of about HK$1.57bn (US$200.9m) for FY2025, compared with HK$623m (US$79.6m) in the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company attributed the increased loss to an impairment charge of around HK$1.18bn (US$151m) in 2025, up from HK$376m (US$48.1m) in 2024. The impairment stems from a reduction in the value of its Macau Fisherman\u2019s Wharf property<\/strong>, where it had operated Legend Palace Casino<\/strong> under SJM Resorts\u2019 concession, due to the termination of its service agreement with SJM Resorts on November 13<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shutdown followed regulatory changes in Macau that required concession holders to close or take over the management of satellite casino operations. Macau Legend said it had already recorded an impairment provision of about HK$1.288bn <\/strong>(US$164.8m) in the first half of 2025 after reassessing the fair value of the affected assets. It said any differences between the half-year and full-year results were due solely to changes in asset valuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the company noted a provision of about HK$71m (US$9.1m) for employee compensation and benefits, including long service payments, following the termination of the SJM Resorts agreement. The results are expected by the end of March.<\/p>\n\n\n
