Macau.- MGM China has launched a new recycling and upcycling programme<\/strong> for used playing cards in Macau. The move is billed as a significant step in the operator\u2019s sustainability strategy<\/strong> and circular economy efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed with local firm Fnetlink Technology Company Limited<\/strong>, the initiative builds on a smart, automated card-shredding solution co-developed in 2023. This enables the processing of discarded playing cards into reusable materials through an end-to-end localised system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company, the programme uses an intelligent shredding system to break down used cards, which are then transformed into high-quality recycled fibres using an innovative dry regeneration technology that does not require water. The fibres can then be repurposed into eco-friendly packaging materials, including filler products and recycled boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MGM China stated that, once fully implemented, the programme is expected to recycle and upcycle approximately 3,000 tons of used playing cards annually, achieving a 100 per cent recycling rate. A launch ceremony was attended by government representatives and senior executives from MGM China and Fnetlink Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenneth Feng<\/strong>, CEO and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings, said: \u201cMGM has always been committed to exploring more efficient and forward-looking sustainability solutions through innovative technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
