The strategic agreement aims to make Phu Quoc International Airport an attraction in itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Vietnam.- Sun Group has signed a strategic partnership with Singapore\u2019s Changi Airports International (CAI) to operate and develop Phu Quoc International Airport. Under the agreement, CAI, a member of Changi Airport Group, will be involved in design advisory, operational planning, implementation, management and long-term performance optimisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to transform Phu Quoc International Airport into what they’re calling Vietnam\u2019s first true \u201cairport destination\u201d, marketing speak for positioning the airport itself as a key attraction rather than merely a transit point. It’s billed as an integrated hub combining transportation, retail, entertainment, dining and cultural experiences, with Singapore Changi Airport cited as inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAI will work alongside Sun Group to expand international air connectivity by collaborating with airlines and strengthening route networks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already planned upgrades at Phu Quoc include a second runway, a new Terminal 2, a VIP terminal and expanded infrastructure, with capacity expected to reach 24 million passengers annually, scalable to 50 million in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crucially, the project is part of Sun Group\u2019s broader strategy to integrate aviation with tourism and entertainment assets across the island. By linking airport operations with resorts, leisure complexes and airline services, the group aims to create a seamless end-to-end travel experience that increases visitor spending and length of stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eugene Gan<\/strong>, chief executive officer of CAI, said: \u201cWe are impressed by Sun Group\u2019s vision for developing Phu Quoc as the next upcoming travel destination. Its integrated tourism and entertainment ecosystem<\/strong> provides a strong foundation for the long-term development of Phu Quoc International Airport as a key gateway for the island. We look forward to contributing our expertise to enable Sun Group to create a world-class airport experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phu Quoc, located off Vietnam\u2019s south-west coast in Kien Giang province, is already a key leisure destination and home to the Corona Resort & Casino<\/a>, one of only two casino complexes in the country currently authorised to admit economically qualified local players, alongside the Grand Ho Tram casino resort<\/a>. The island\u2019s growing prominence in the gaming and tourism landscape is further reinforced by Sun Group\u2019s broader investment strategy, which also includes the development of a new integrated casino resort in the Van Don Economic Zone in Quang Ninh province<\/a>, where construction officially commenced in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
