India.- The government has enacted the Online Gaming Act, 2025<\/a>. The move means that the ban on online gambling passed by Parliament in August 2025 will now be enforced. The measure covers games of skill, chance and hybrid formats, and extends to advertising, promotion, and payment processing linked to such activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the act now enacted, authorities can begin enforcing key provisions, including blocking access to non-compliant platforms and taking action against operators and intermediaries. The government also gains the ability to pursue criminal penalties and financial sanctions under the new framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central element of the rollout is the establishment of the Online Gaming Authority of India<\/strong>, which will oversee implementation. The body is expected to begin classifying games, managing registrations for permitted products and ensuring compliance across the ecosystem. Banks, payment processors, and other intermediaries are now required to prevent transactions<\/strong> tied to prohibited gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
