The Philippines.- Police have arrested four South Korean nationals accused of operating illegal online gambling <\/strong>from a condominium complex in Cebu City. Police said it was a small but long-running offshore betting operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrests were carried out by the Philippine National Police\u2019s Anti-Cybercrime Group <\/strong>(ACG), following a search warrant issued by Branch 7 of the Cebu Regional Trial Court. According to ACG Director Brigadier General Wilson Asueta<\/strong>, an intelligence-driven investigation combined citizen tip offs, cyber patrol activities and on-the-ground surveillance. The suspects were identified by police as Song, 38; Kung, 35; Yun, 29; and Lun, 38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities believe the group had been running the online gambling operation for nearly five years through a website promoted on social media. The platform allegedly accepted wagers related to international sports competitions, including baseball and basketball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACG spokesperson Lt. Wallen Mae Arancillo<\/strong> said preliminary estimates suggest the operation generated at least PHP10m (US$170,000) in monthly betting activity. Investigators indicated that the operation functioned as a \u201cmini-hub,\u201d with multiple condominium units. Police said the suspects had been operating from the unit where they were arrested for more than a year.<\/p>\n\n\n
