Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group is pushing for additional gaming tables for its Galaxy Macau Phase 4, a 600,000-square-metre expansion slated for completion in 2027. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase 4 of the Cotai development will include a 5,000-seat theatre, a water resort deck and other non-gaming amenities, alongside casino space. The project aligns with Macau\u2019s post-2023 concession framework, which places greater emphasis on non-gaming investment. However, Galaxy is keen to receive a higher table allocation under Macau\u2019s fixed-cap system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current rules, Macau\u2019s six concessionaires share a cap of 6,000 gaming tables. Galaxy is authorised to operate 1,000 plus 1,700 gaming machines under its concession, which began on January 1, 2023. Any adjustment would require regulatory approval, otherwise it may redeploy existing tables towards higher-yield areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts at Jefferies have suggested a strategy similar to that used at Horizon Plus, the premium gaming zone in the tower housing the Capella at Galaxy Macau. There tables were moved to maximise returns from premium segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Jefferies, demand for higher-end products has prompted Galaxy to increase room sizes in Phase 4, reducing the total key count to around 1,350 from an earlier plan of 1,500. Capital expenditure is expected to rise sharply, with guidance of HKD10bn to HKD11bn (US$1.28\/US$1.40bn) in 2026, compared with HKD3.5bn (US$448m) in 2025 as the company upgrades existing assets and funds the new development.<\/p>\n\n\n
