Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (PSP)<\/strong> has reported that 1.55 million visitors entered Macau over the nine-day Chinese New Year break, which started on February 15 and ended yesterday (February 23). The total slightly surpasses government forecasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city received an average of nearly 172,699 visitors per day and saw three consecutive days of more than 200,000 arrivals. Thursday, February 19, saw an all-time record<\/a> of 227,943 entries. Most tourists entered Macau via the Border Gate checkpoint, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and the Hengqin checkpoint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/strong>, the director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), had forecast a daily influx of 158,000 to 175,000 arrivals<\/a> and between 1.4 and 1.5 million over the whole nine-day holiday period. Last year\u2019s tally was 1.31 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
