Macau.- Immigration data released by the Public Security Police Force (PSP)<\/strong> indicates that 1.397 million visitors entered Macau over the first eight days of the nine-day\u00a0Chinese New Year break<\/strong>, which started on February 15 and ends today (February 23).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city received an average of nearly 174,722 visitors per day and saw three consecutive days of more than 200,000 arrivals. Thursday, February 19, saw an all-time record of 227,943<\/a> entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most tourists entered Macau via the Border Gate checkpoint, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and the Hengqin checkpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes<\/strong>, the director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), had forecast a daily influx of 158,000 to 175,000 arrivals<\/a> and between 1.4 and 1.5 million over the whole nine-day holiday period. Last year\u2019s tally was 1.31 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n
