Australia.- Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV)<\/strong> celebrated the 30th anniversary of its Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP)<\/strong> with an event at Parliament Gardens this week. Political representatives attended along with industry stakeholders and community partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Launched in 1996, GAP has facilitated the rehoming of approximately 20,000 retired racing greyhounds so far. During the event, GRV chair Tom Salom described the programme as a benchmark for welfare standards <\/strong>within the racing sector, and said that structured regulation and sustained funding have played a central role in its development. He added that GAP\u2019s evolution reflects broader industry efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability around animal care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A new video outlined the lifecycle of a Victorian greyhound, from early development and racing to retirement and adoption,. Victoria\u2019s Racing Minister Anthony Carbines<\/strong>, Shadow Racing Minister Tim Bull <\/strong>and former Premier Denis Napthine <\/strong>were among those in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
