The Australian regulator says the sites violated the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA<\/strong>) has requested that online service providers (ISPs) block eight more unlicensed online gambling sites<\/strong> after investigations found them to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001<\/a>. The sites are Lucky Mate, Vegastars, Wombet, Cosmobet, Fortune Play, Fortunica, Rolletto, and Velobet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the ACMA made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,518 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked<\/strong>. Over 220 illegal services<\/strong> have also pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal online gambling rules in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ACMA reminded consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, it\u2019s unlikely to have important customer protections. \u201cThis means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money,\u201d said the regulator and invited players to check if a wagering service is licensed to operate in Australia on their register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, ACMA announced that six licensed wagering providers breached the country\u2019s national self-exclusion rules<\/a> after concluding investigations into conduct during 2024. It found that Tabcorp, LightningBet, Betfocus, TempleBet, Picklebet and BetChamps did not comply with obligations to prevent access or marketing to players registered with BetStop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
