The increase was driven by strong casino performance, with GGR hitting MOP22.63bn (US$2.82bn), the highest January figure since 2019 and <strong>24 per cent<\/strong> higher year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Factoring in capital income, Macau\u2019s public fiscal revenue for January amounted to <strong>MOP9.63bn<\/strong> (US$1.20bn). The gaming sector contributed approximately <strong>85 per cent<\/strong>, reflecting its continued importance as the chief revenue source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Total government spending during January stood at <strong>MOP4.67bn<\/strong> (US$581m), while the public fiscal surplus reached <strong>MOP4.96bn<\/strong> (US$618m), marking a <strong>29 per cent year-on-year increase<\/strong>. According to the <strong>Financial Services Bureau<\/strong>, the improved fiscal balance reflects higher gaming-related revenue combined with disciplined public spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government&#8217;s gambling tax target for 2026 is <strong>MOP92.53bn<\/strong> (US$11.52bn).
