That&#8217;s an increase of five from the 24 operators announced a year ago. The cap on casino junket operators for this year remains at 50, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-maintain-cap-on-junket-operators-for-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">same as in 2025<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s gaming law includes a statute that imposes a limit on the number of junkets each of the city\u2019s six casino operators can engage with. The limit varies for each operator and is determined by the city\u2019s\u00a0Secretary for Economy and Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sands China\u00a0and\u00a0SJM Holdings\u00a0hold the largest allocations, with 12 junkets each permitted at their respective casinos.\u00a0MGM China Holdings\u00a0and\u00a0Melco Resorts &amp; Entertainment\u00a0are each authorised to work with eight junkets while\u00a0Galaxy Entertainment Group\u00a0and\u00a0Wynn Macau\u00a0have caps of five junket partners each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since January 2023, junkets have been barred from sharing in casino revenue and are limited to a 1.25 per cent commission on rolling turnover. Since&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-proposes-new-bill-on-casino-credit-and-junket-contracts\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">August 2024<\/a>, they are also prohibited from issuing gambling credit, a function now reserved for casino concessionaires under the Legal Regime of Credit Concession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau GGR rises 24% year-over-year in January<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0DICJ\u00a0reported that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP22.63bn (US$2.81bn) in January. That\u2019s an increase of 24 per cent in year-on-year terms and 8.4 per cent from December 2025. It was the highest January total since 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s GGR for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-reaches-us30-9bn-in-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2025 was\u00a0MOP247.40bn (US$30.9bn)<\/a>. That\u2019s a rise of 9.1 per cent year-on-year and surpassed the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-government-lowers-ggr-forecast-for-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">government forecast<\/a> of MOP228bn.
