The Participant Welfare Officer Service is intended to bolster animal care and human wellbeing support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has launched a support initiative aimed at enhancing welfare for racing participants and their greyhounds in New South Wales. The Participant Welfare Officer (PWO) Service<\/strong> will provide immediate assistance in crisis situations where participants may struggle to meet care obligations for their animals due to unforeseen circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by George Zaiter, the service will respond to issues like medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other crisis scenarios affecting handlers and their greyhounds. Participants will be offered access to a dedicated mental health support service through a partnership with Sonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Temporary care support will be contingent on evidence of a sustainable plan that ensures compliance with animal care standards. Permanent care arrangements require participants to cancel their industry registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
