That&#8217;s according to data released by the Department of Tourism (DOT). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitor numbers were up by just <strong>0.76 per cent year-on-year<\/strong>. Of the total, 5,940,975 were foreign visitors, while 543,085 were returning overseas Filipinos. Although international arrivals remained below pre-pandemic levels and fell short of the DOT\u2019s projection of 8.4 million, authorities welcomed the result amid global travel headwinds, fiscal constraints and market volatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There was an uptick in December with <strong>625,484 arrivals<\/strong>, 20 per cent higher than December 2024. It was the strongest monthly performance since January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Korea remained the country\u2019s largest source market in 2025despite an 18.5 per cent year-on-year decline to 1.35 million arrivals. China, traditionally a major feeder market for casino resorts, contributed 237,101 arrivals, down 14.3 per cent taking to to sixth place among source markets. Industry analysts expect Chinese visits to pick following the <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/visa-free-entry-for-chinese-tourists-seen-as-catalyst-for-manilas-entertainment-city\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/visa-free-entry-for-chinese-tourists-seen-as-catalyst-for-manilas-entertainment-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philippines\u2019 recent decision to grant visa-free entry to Chinese visitors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move to ease travel restrictions for Chinese tourists is widely viewed as a positive development for the nation\u2019s casino sector, particularly for the integrated resorts in Entertainment City, Manila, which have historically depended on Chinese play to support mass and VIP gaming volumes.
