China.- Wang Xiaohong, a member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and state councillor has said that China should continue its hardline stance against cross-border gambling. Speaking in a national video conference, he called for sustained and targeted operations focused on key cases, major fugitives and organised criminal networks while strengthening coordination, institutional mechanisms and professional capacity across enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remarks suggest a continuity in China’s clampdown on offshore gambling, which authorities have linked to capital flight, fraud, money laundering and broader financial risks. Wang emphasised that enforcement must remain systematic to deliver \u201cgreater results\u201d over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police urge suspects to surrender in a major cross-border gambling and fraud case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, China\u2019s Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has issued a public notice urging suspects linked to a major cross-border gambling and fraud syndicate to surrender voluntarily. According to the MPS, fugitives suspected of involvement in the syndicate have until February 15 to turn themselves in for a chance to possibly receive lighter or mitigated punishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The syndicate was allegedly led by Chen Zhi, who was previously extradited from Cambodia to China. Investigators say the group is suspected of offences, including fraud, illegal casino operations, unlawful business activities and the concealment or laundering of criminal proceeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry warned that suspects who refuse to surrender will face public wanted notice, while anyone attempting to obstruct or retaliate against individuals seeking to surrender could also face criminal charges.<\/p>\n\n\n
