Banks have been instructed to carry out investigations into the flagged accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Indonesia.- The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has ordered banks in Indonesia to block 31,382 bank accounts suspected of being connected to illegal online gambling. That’s an increase from 30,392 accounts previously identified through data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directive, announced during an OJK press conference on January 9, forms part of a broader effort to curb unlicensed online gambling. Dian Ediana Rae, OJK\u2019s Head of Banking Supervision, said banks have been instructed to carry out investigations into the flagged accounts and to close any additional accounts under the same National Identification Number (NIK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OJK has also mandated enhanced due diligence measures across the banking sector to prevent gambling-related networks from regaining access to the financial system. The approach combines account blocking with longer-term monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n
