Hong Kong.- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) <\/strong>saw a nearly 20 per cent jump<\/strong> in World<\/strong> Pool<\/strong> turnover from overseas races to HK$9.3bn<\/strong> (US$1.19bn) in 2025 with an increase of HK$7.8bn <\/strong>(US$1.00bn), compared to 2024. The growth was driven by the addition of more racedays from outside Hong Kong to the commingled betting platform, rising from 48 in 2024 to 57 in 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expanded schedule enhanced World Pool\u2019s global reach and boosted wagering activity across various markets. A total of 329 races across ten jurisdictions <\/strong>were run under the World Pool banner in the year. Hong Kong’s Group 1 races<\/strong> were featured in World Pool for the first time in 2025, generating turnover of HK$1.6bn (US$205m). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The year’s top-earning single race was The Everest at Randwick, <\/strong>featuring Ka Ying Rising<\/strong>, widely regarded as Hong Kong’s fastest horse. World Pool bets on the race hit HK$83m<\/strong> (US$10.65m), breaking the previous record of HK$66.2m<\/strong> (US$8.50m) from the 2023 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew Harding<\/strong>, executive director of racing at the HKJC, said the increased lineup of international races had created new revenue streams for courses and rights holders and driven up prize money. Harding noted that the club is gearing up for more growth in 2026<\/strong>, with plans to add more races and reach a broader international audience.<\/p>\n\n\n
