Malaysia.- Mega Fortris <\/strong>has abandoned its plan to build a playing card manufacturing facility in Macau<\/strong>. The company now intends to consolidate all manufacturing operations in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Macau factory was to be funded with RM45m (US$11.1m) out of the RM99.07m (US$24.77m) raised through an initial public offering November 2024. Allocation of those proceeds will now be revised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to regulatory filings, the company will redirect a significant portion of funds to expanding its Shah Alam manufacturing facility<\/strong>, increasing annual output capacity and supporting working capital requirements. The revised plan is expected to boost production capacity from around 19 million decks to up to 44 million decks per year<\/strong> once the expansion is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Macau manufacturing project will no longer proceed, Mega Fortris said it would establish a warehouse and card-handling centre in the city. The facility, targeted to open in 2027, will focus on pre-shuffling, packaging and delivery services for casino clients, allowing the group to retain a local operational footprint without the cost burden of full-scale manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company cited challenges in securing suitable industrial premises and rising rental costs in Macau as key factors for the change in plans. Mega Fortris will seek shareholder approval for the updated allocation of IPO proceeds at an upcoming extraordinary general meeting.
