Australia.- PointsBet Holdings has named Andrew Catterall<\/strong> as its new group chief executive officer. The appointment will be effective from February 1, subject to regulatory approvals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catterall, who has led PointsBet\u2019s Australian business since July 2022, will succeed long-serving CEO and co-founder Sam Swanell<\/strong>. In Australia, Catterall has overseen what the company described as a period of operational transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swanell, who has led PointsBet since its foundation and guided the group through its public listing and international expansion, will move to an advisory role after a transition period. He will continue to serve on the board as an executive director, focusing on strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions and potential market expansion. PointsBet chairman Brett Paton said the board was \u201cdelighted\u201d with the appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leadership change comes after the Japanese digital entertainment group MIXI acquired a 66.43 per cent stake in the ASX-listed operator<\/a> in September, gaining majority voting control. Australian bookmaker Betr, which made a rival bid, holds a significant minority stake<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the acquisition, PointsBet has reshaped its board<\/a>, adding MIXI representatives while retaining Paton as chairman and Swanell as a director.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
