Indonesia.- The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) has reported a drop in online gambling transactions in Indonesia in the third quarter. Transactions reportedly totalled Rp155tn (US$9.27bn), a 57 per cent decrease year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for participation levels. PPATK data indicates that the number of online gambling players fell from 9.7 million in 2024 to 3.1 million in 2025. The government has interpreted these figures as evidence that its measures to combat online gambling are producing tangible results. Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid described the data as a credible indicator that policies implemented over the past year are having the intended impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hafid cited a combination of monitoring, access blocking and law enforcement actions aimed at disrupting online gambling operations. She said these target not only gambling content, but also underlying digital infrastructure and financial flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister said the results reflect coordinated work between government institutions and the public, and underline the state\u2019s role in protecting citizens from the social and economic harms. Hafid said the government will continue to increase supervision and enforcement against all forms of online gambling with a rapid response to reports, blocking of illegal gambling websites and further restrictions on the financial channels used by operators.<\/p>\n\n\n
