Macau.- There was a 70.1 per cent year-on-year increase in gaming-related crime in Macau in the first nine months of 2025 due to new legislation that banned money traders outside gaming venues. There were 1,737 cases compared to 1,021 a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secretary for security Chan Tsz King said, police arrested 4,475 individuals between January and September, up 8.8 per cent from 2024. That’s despite a 71 per cent year-on-year decline in overall crime cases to 10,058, with decreases in theft, robbery, fraud, computer crimes and violent crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Chan also cautioned that scam tactics are changing with AI deepfake tech now in Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n
