The paper maintains the previously cited target date of December 1 2026 for the start of regulated online casino gaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has said that\u00a0detailed regulations will be published in mid-2026 to give the sector time to digest them before making applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New Zealand parliament approved the first reading of the Online Casino Gambling Bill in July. Under the current draft, up to 15 online casino licences will be available.
