The head of the \u0130zmir Lottery and Games Vendors Association says the market has been overtaken by online gambling platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Turkey.- Street vendors selling lottery tickets in \u0130zmir, Turkey<\/strong>, have attributed a slump in demand for New Year’s draw tickets to the rise of online gambling. The state’s biggest annual lottery draw held on December 31<\/strong> has a top prize of 800m lira<\/strong> ($19m), but sellers say demand this year is the lowest they have seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with T24, Pa\u015fa \u00c7akmak,<\/strong> head of the \u0130zmir Lottery and Games Vendors Association, said the market has been overtaken by online gambling platforms. \u00c7akmak said the privatisation of the state lottery had also contributed to a rise in digital gaming.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c7akmak said online gambling sites are attracting users with constant access and promotional bonuses, and suggested that they are more harmful. He warned that many vendors face heavy losses and may be forced to quit the business.<\/p>\n\n\n
