According to prosecutors, the players manipulated game outcomes using tactics such as dribbling out of bounds, refusing to pass, and making bad passes between December 27, 2022, and May 21, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the conclusion of the investigation in February last year, the 15 people were charged with violating the <strong>Sports Lottery Issuance Act <\/strong>and the <strong>Criminal Code<\/strong>. They faced allegations of colluding in a group of three or more to manipulate sports events linked to betting, gambling for profit, providing a venue for gambling, and aggravated fraud. Prosecutors also urged the court to seize the group&#8217;s unlawful gains, estimated to be over <strong>NT$20m <\/strong>(US$641,197).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former player <strong>Ko Min-hao<\/strong>, accused of personally making about <strong>NT$470,000 <\/strong>(US$15,074) received a seven-year sentence; <strong>Wu Yu-jen<\/strong> got four years and 10 months; <strong>Yen Wen-tso<\/strong>, five years; <strong>Chiu Chung-po<\/strong>, three years and four months; <strong>Chou Wei-chen <\/strong>and <strong>Huang Hsuan-min<\/strong>, four years and nine months each; and <strong>Chen Pin-chuan<\/strong>, four years and four months. <strong>Lee Chi-en<\/strong> was handed one year and eight months with four years of probation. Additionally, Senegalese national <strong>Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Sarr<\/strong> received five years and two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Dinos assistant coach <strong>Chiu Chi-wei<\/strong> and four others &#8211; surnamed <strong>Huang, Chang, Yu, and Chiu<\/strong> &#8211; received sentences ranging from eight months to two years for their involvement in the match-fixing scheme. However, all but Chiu Chi-wei received suspended sentences.
