The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has said that it allocated PHP32.85m (US$4.1m)<\/strong> to assist families affected by Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan, which left widespread devastation in various parts of the country. Alejandro H. Tengco<\/strong>, PAGCOR chairman and CEO, said the agency provided 31,500 relief packs containing food and non-food essentials for distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFollowing the onslaught of Typhoon Tino<\/strong> in early November, we already turned over 15,000 relief packs worth PHP14.78m (US$1.8m) to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Regions 6 and 7 to help affected communities in those regions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another batch of 16,500 relief packs worth PHP18.07m (US$2.3m) is being dispatched to communities impacted by Super Typhoon Uwan<\/strong> in Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Aurora, Batangas, Bulacan, and Negros Occidental. The Senate of the Philippines also received relief packs for its outreach initiative. Each contains rice, bottled water, canned goods, and coffee, along with non-food necessities such as blankets, mosquito nets, and toiletries.<\/p>\n\n\n

In addition to the relief drive, PAGCOR also donated 2,000 computer tablets<\/strong> worth PHP17.54m to cities in the Visayas that host its Casino Filipino branches, including 1,000 for the Cebu City government and 500 each for Iloilo and Bacolod for distribution to state schools.<\/p>\n\n\n
