The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center has submitted a list of social media influencers to the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Philippines.- The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has submitted a list of social media influencers to the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) for potential prosecution for the alleged promotion of unauthorised online gambling platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CICC chief undersecretary Renato “Aboy” Paraiso made the announcement at a press conference held in Quezon City on Thursday, November 13. He said the agency’s Threat Monitoring Team, in collaboration with Digital Pinoys, has identified an additional 30 social media influencers who are still actively promoting illegal online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paraiso said the 15 social media influencers at the top of the list regularly post content that promotes unregulated online gambling. He said each has between 1.1 million and 9.2 million followers. He said they failed to remove content when given time to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paraiso said the influencers could face charges under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, Presidential Decree No. 1602 for illegal gambling, and Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code on estafa.<\/p>\n\n\n
