Philippines.- In separate cases, the Bureau of Investigation<\/strong> has arrested two South Korean fugitives<\/strong> for allegedly operating illegal online gambling schemes across Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first arrest, involving a 38-year-old <\/strong>women, was made on November 6<\/strong> on Ayala Avenue <\/strong>in Makati City<\/strong>. The woman allegedly ran 23 online gambling platforms<\/strong> offering sports betting, baccarat, and Powerball. In May<\/strong>, Interpol issued a red notice based on an arrest warrant from the Incheon District Court<\/strong> for breaching South Korea\u2019s National Sports Promotion Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the BI\u2019s Fugitive Search Unit, the woman entered the Philippines as a temporary visitor in September<\/strong> 2021<\/strong> but is now considered an overstaying alien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate incident,a 48-year-old man was arrested the next day on Teodoro Evangelista Street<\/strong> in Para\u00f1aque City<\/strong>. The man and accomplices allegedly oversaw an illegal gambling operation that allowed users to wager on international sports events in violation of South Korea\u2019s National Sports Promotion Act. A red notice was issued against him in August 2025<\/strong> following warrants from the Busan<\/strong> District Court <\/strong>and Eujeongbu District Court<\/strong>. He entered the Philippines on March 31, 2023<\/strong>, and has also overstayed his visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both were taken to the BI warden facility in Taguig City<\/strong> for booking and documentation, and are now awaiting deportation. The BI has blacklisted both, banning them from re-entering the country.<\/p>\n\n\n
