The club has confirmed its first race at Conghua Racecourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong.- The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has announced the date for its first race meeting in mainland China. The inaugural event at Conghua Racecourse<\/strong> will take place on October 31, 2026<\/strong>. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges<\/strong> has reportedly said there are likely to be five or six races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan was initially to begin regular fixtures at Conghua in April next year, but the timeframe was pushed back to give the Club sufficient time to complete construction, allowing for any adverse weather conditions over the summer. The delay also provides HKJC with time to plan in line with China\u2019s five-year National Equine Industry Plan, which is expected to early next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first meeting will likely be limited to officials and invited guests, with the second meeting scheduled for late November 2026 <\/strong>serving as the broader public launch. Engelbrecht-Bresges has said that the move will represent \u201cthe launch of world-class racing<\/a> in mainland China.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HKJC acquired land for an equine transfer centre<\/a> near Conghua to facilitate horse imports into mainland China and potentially support the development of a domestic breeding industry. The centre is scheduled for completion in April 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n
