A meeting on Preventing Online Gambling was held at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Bangladesh.- Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb<\/strong>, special assistant to the chief adviser for the ministry of posts, telecommunications and information technology, has announced that around 5,000 Mobile Financial Service (MFS) accounts <\/strong>linked to online gambling have been blocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taiyeb made the comments in a meeting titled “Preventing Online Gambling” <\/strong>at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC)<\/strong> conference room in Agargaon<\/strong>, attended by representatives from mobile operators, internet providers, law enforcement, and financial services. He also highlighted other measures the administration is taking to prevent online gambling and mitigate its risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the BTRC has begun issuing emails to online platforms to remove online gambling-related content. Additionally, a guideline has been drafted to guide media on configuring web browsers and AdSense settings. Taiyeb said the guideline is being reviewed by the Ministry of Information and will be disseminated once approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is also working on developing a database that will collect and track data from government agencies, online platforms and service providers. Taiyeb mentioned that the government will be holding a tripartite meeting with the Election Commission<\/strong> in the near future to integrate SIM and MFS e-KYC systems<\/strong>. He stressed the importance of identifying pseudo members of gambling networks and slowing down suspicious traffic. There was also talk of a new agency similar to the Department of Narcotics Control<\/strong>,to fight online scams and gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n
