They were arrested on <strong>Monday, October 27<\/strong>, after allegedly using a fake document showing a balance of <strong>HKD48m<\/strong> (US$6.17m) to secure <strong>HKD10m<\/strong> (US$1.28m) in gambling credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspects, three <strong>Hong Kong nationals and one Macau resident<\/strong>, allegedly submitted a fake electronic bank statement from a Hong Kong bank to prove creditworthiness.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Vong Chi Hou<\/strong>, head of the Judiciary Police&#8217;s gaming-related crimes division, said that, on Monday, when the casino requested the return of non-negotiable chips advanced through a credit line, the suspects only returned chips worth <strong>HKD1,585,000<\/strong> (US$203,959) leaving a shortfall of <strong>HKD8,415,000, <\/strong>(US$1,02m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police believe the suspects defrauded another casino out of <strong>HKD9 million<\/strong> (US$1.15m) in gambling credit and approached two other Macau operators but had applications rejected. Officers suspect other people were involved.
