According to Tribuna, in a speech while attending the destruction of drug evidence at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta, Subianto said: \u201cAt the start of my administration, I am trying to understand where all our wealth lies. Therefore, I am asking the National Police Chief to lead on three main areas for me: eradicating drugs, smuggling, and online gambling<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prabowo stressed the need for cross-agency coordination<\/a>. He praised the work of the National Police and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), while calling for tighter cooperation with Customs, the Attorney General\u2019s Office, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and regional governments.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n He warned that smuggling and online gambling have grown harder to tackle due to sophisticated technology. \u201cSmuggling is tough; online gambling is also tough. Because they use technology, when we shut it down here, it pops up over there,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Earlier this month, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs said it removed more than 2.3m gambling-related posts<\/a> from the internet over the past year. That makes gambling the biggest cause for removal among the 3m pieces of digital content removed ovall between October 2024 and October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), gambling-related transactions from 2017 to early 2025 reached Rp927tn (US$56.8bn). Law enforcement agencies have seized assets worth nearly Rp925bn (US$56.7m) from gambling networks over the past two years, according to the National Police\u2019s Cyber Crime Directorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Officials noted that some Indonesian workers have been recruited to operate offshore gambling sites under the promise of lucrative pay only to face labour exploitation. The government said that 70 per cent of online gamblers earn less than Rp5m (US$307) per month, with some identified as recipients of social assistance<\/a>. Benefits have been suspended for 603,000 welfare recipients found to be involved in gambling activities.
