India.- Sindhudurg Police<\/strong> prevented an illegal cockfighting event in Kudal, Sindhudurg district<\/strong>, after PETA India<\/strong> filed a complaint. Officials registered a first information report (FIR) against eight individuals<\/strong> under Section 12(c) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887 and Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 for aiding and abetting the illegal event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960<\/strong> prohibits inciting animals to fight each other. In a\u202f judgment\u202fin 2014,\u202fthe Supreme Court of India ruled in favour PETA India and the government advisory body, the\u202fAnimal Welfare Board of India, finding that bullfighting,\u202fdogfighting and any other staged fights between animals and between humans and other animals for entertainment are prohibited<\/p>\n\n\n
