Some <strong>622,000<\/strong> identify as problem gamblers, a <strong>22 per cent rise<\/strong> from last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey, which polled almost <strong>17,000 Australians over 18 years old<\/strong>, found that problem gambling is more prevalent among younger people. Most participants who admitted to struggling with problem gambling are under 35, and <strong>4.6 per cent <\/strong>are between <strong>18-24 years old<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research also found that <strong>3.7 per cent<\/strong> of Australians experiencing mortgage stress and <strong>4.1 per cent <\/strong>facing extreme mortgage stress are problem gamblers.
