The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has inaugurated its 50th socio-civic centre. The PHP50m (US$845,000) facility in Barangay San Gregorio <\/strong>is designed to serve as an evacuation site during disasters and as a venue for social and community activities. The building has multi-purpose halls, kitchens, restrooms and other disaster-resilient amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR assistant vice president for community relations and services department (CRSD) Eric Balcos<\/strong>, who turned over the building to Laurel Mayor Lyndon Bruce<\/strong>, said the new structure reflects the state gaming agency\u2019s commitment to safeguard communities vulnerable to natural calamities. situated along the shore of Taal Lake, Laurel is vulnerable municipalities during periods of volcanic unrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, PAGCOR has completed 50 socio-civic centres nationwide, with 22 more under construction<\/strong>, as part of the agency\u2019s thrust to channel gaming revenues into community projects that enhance disaster preparedness and improve the quality of life in local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, PAGCOR donated Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to 12 local government units (LGUs)<\/a>. Since February 2025, PAGCOR has distributed 142 Patient Transport Vehicles to LGUs and partner agencies nationwide, including 70 units turned over to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)<\/a>.
