Sri Lanka.- Public security minister Ananda Wijepala<\/strong> has confirmed that local law enforcement agencies are coordinating with Interpol to identify and deport foreign nationals engaged in illegal gambling and fraud. A delegation from Interpol recently visited Colombo for a security summit, where the parties discussed joint strategies to tackle cross-border crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChina is cooperative. These scammers swindle money from China. As a result, they are nabbed and deported for legal action over there,\u201d Wijepala said, claiming that 80 people have already been apprehended and handed over to Chinese authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move follows recent bilateral talks between Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and Chinese president Xi Jinping<\/strong>, during which the leaders pledged to \u201cenhance law enforcement and security cooperation\u201d and \u201cresolutely combat crimes such as cross-border gambling and fraud,\u201d according to China\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n
