It says the move could help curb the influence of illegal bookmakers and corrupt players in the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the BCCI, match-fixing constitutes cheating by deception, which is already an offence under the <strong>Indian Penal Code (IPC)<\/strong>, and thus should be considered a criminal act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In documents filed with the court registrar on <strong>October 14, 2025<\/strong>, the BCCI highlighted actions it has taken, including implementing <strong>anti-corruption codes<\/strong> in <strong>2019<\/strong> to empower the board to impose fines and lifetime bans on offenders. The body also organises awareness programs to promote fair play, integrity, and sportsmanship among players and officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A match-fixing scandal in Karnataka&#8217;s state cricket league in <strong>2018-19<\/strong> implicated six individuals, including two players, a coach, and a club owner.
