Takaichi could accelerate the drive for integrated casino resorts (IR) as her coalition backs the policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Japan.- There’s been some speculation that the election of Sanae Takaichi<\/strong> as the first female prime minister of Japan could bode well for the possibility of more integrated casino resorts (IR) in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President of Japan\u2019s Liberal Democratic Party, Takaichi was elected with support from the Osaka-based Japan Innovation Party, Ishin no Kai, which has been in favour of casino resorts as a means for regional economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ishin no Kai is led by Hirofumi Yoshimura, the governor of Osaka prefecture, where Japan’s first integrated resort (IR), Orix and MGM’s MGM Osaka<\/a>, is expected to open in 2030. There had already been some expectation that Japan might open another round of bidding for casino licences after only one out of a possible three was granted the first time around. However, it remains to be seen whether Takaichi’s election makes this more likely.<\/p>\n\n\n
