The country continues its enforcement actions against online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Indonesia.- the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi<\/strong>) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) have announced the blocking of nearly 24,000 bank accounts allegedly linked to illegal betting transactions. They said the accounts were detected through cyber monitoring and public reports in coordination with multiple government agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Meutya Hafid<\/strong> said the government is committed to \u201ccompletely cutting off\u201d financial flows from illicit gambling activities. Authorities claim to have removed more than 2.8 million pieces of harmful online content between October 2024 and September 2025, most related to gambling. Komdigi\u2019s Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar<\/strong>, said the initiative aims to maintain a \u201cclean, safe, and compliant\u201d online ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Social Affairs has also been suspending welfare payments to beneficiaries found gambling online. Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that out of the nine million identified users, approximately 600,000 were welfare recipients. \u201cIf it is proven they were engaged in online gambling, their benefits will be terminated immediately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), 132,557 welfare recipients used more than IDR 542.5bn (US$32.77m) of state aid for gambling in the first half of 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n
